Accomack County Comments Guidelines
The purpose of the Accomack County Facebook Page, website and other forms of social media is to present matters relevant to the services, activities, issues or policies of Accomack County. We encourage you to submit your questions, comments, criticisms and concerns through the website: https://www.co.accomack.va.us/how-do-i-/report-a-concern or the current Contact Us webpage - https://www.co.accomack.va.us/about-us/contact-us. Please note that the County’s Facebook Page, website and other forms of social media are moderated online discussion sites and shall not constitute a public forum.
Materials covered by these guidelines include not just written comments, but also images and links to other sites. The County reserves the right to remove any material that, in whole or in part, does not comply with these guidelines, associated policies or applicable law.
Specifically, the County reserves the right to remove materials that:
- contains anything obscene, vulgar or sexually explicit;
- is spam;
- advocates or depicts illegal activity;
- targets or disparages any ethnic, racial, religious, gender, gender identity, political, or other type of group;
- contains personal attacks of any kind;
- promotes private business ventures, services and products;
- campaigns for public office or promotes a political organization, cause or candidate;
- infringes on copyrights or trademarks;
- jeopardizes the safety of personnel or the conduct of operations or investigations;
- is off topic.
In addition, the County reserves the right to remove material containing computer viruses or that otherwise may disrupt, damage or restrict the use of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment.
To the extent feasible, the Content Manager will attempt to notify the person or entity responsible for posting the materials that the post has been removed due to violation of this policy.
Please note that materials posted on County social media sites, or links created by anyone other than the County, do not reflect the opinions and position of Accomack County, its Board of Supervisors, or its employees.
