Accomack County cares about the health and wellness of employees and their families. A healthy employee is better able to perform daily work tasks and engage with coworkers. The following resources are available for employees and their families:
Anthem Health Insurance
Accomack County offers employees health and dental insurance through Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Employees can choose from Key Care 15 Plus PPO or Key Care 20 Plus PPO and/or basic and major dental coverage. To view county plans and rates, click here.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The EAP offers employees and members of their household free and confidential counseling services that are separate from an employee’s mental health or substance abuse benefits. EAP's services include but are not limited to:
- Stress
- Depression or Anxiety
- Eldercare questions
- Alcoholism & Substance Abuse
- Family Planning & Parenting
You can use the EAP as often as you need. There are no limitations on how often you can use EAP benefits and all information is kept confidential. To learn more about the EAP click here or:

Mental Health & Wellness
Mental Health includes emotional, psychological and social well-being. Awareness, intervention, and prevention are crucial issues as mental health problems can happen at all stages of life including recurring through an individual’s life. The following links provide further help and information:

Securian
The County provides basic group term life insurance to employees through the Virginia Retirement System and underwritten by Securian Life Insurance Company. This coverage is provided at no cost to the employee. For a natural death, the benefit is equal to the employee's pay (rounded to the next $1,000), and then doubled. For accidental death, the benefit is four times the employee's pay. There is no maximum limitation on this benefit. To learn more visit: Securian.com

VA Corp Hybrid Disability Plan
VA Corp Hybrid Disability Plan provides some income protection if you can’t work because of a covered physical disease, mental disorder, injury or pregnancy. Benefits include:
- Short term & long-term disability coverage for total/partial disabilities.
- Transitional rehabilitation plans to help you return to work if you are able.
- Free advocacy series to assist you in applying
- Additional benefit for severely disabled individuals.
