Each year the Fire Academy is held at the Eastern Shore Regional Fire Training Center located at 28598 Beacon Road in Melfa, VA. Registration usually begins in October for a typical start date of January each year.

The goal is to train volunteer/career firefighters in compliance with local, state and federal standards to the NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level II Certification, Hazmat Operations Level thereby adding qualified personnel to meet current and future operational staffing requirements.

Funding for the Fire Academy is made possible by the Accomack County Board of Supervisors through the Department of Public Safety’s annual budget.

The Fire Academy is taught by both volunteer and career fire instructors.
