Second Round Grant Opportunity for Charter Boats and USCG Licensed Vessels Providing Passenger Service

VMRC Licensed Charter Boat Captains and USCG Licensed/Documented Vessels Providing Passenger Service that are located in Accomack County that were deemed ineligible during the first round  of VMRC Licensed Charter Boat Captains and USCG Licensed/Documented Vessels Providing Passenger Service  Grant Applications have a chance to reapply for a grant up to $4,000.  This also affords the opportunity for VMRC Licensed Charter Boat Captains and USCG Licensed/Documented Vessels Providing Passenger Service who missed the first round application deadline to apply.  Applicants did not receive approval or funds from the Small Business Administration's Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) or Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).  Applicants must not have received unemployment benefits. 

TAXES MUST BE CURRENT AND BUSINESS LICENSES OBTAINED (if required) ON OR BEFORE SEPTEMBER 22, 2020.

The County will open up on-line applications on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. and close the applications on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.  Only one grant per VMRC Licensed Charter Boat Captains and USCG Licensed/Documented Vessels Providing Passenger Service will be awarded.

Successful grant recipients will be notified by email and be required to submit a W-9 form.  Successful grant award recipient’s applicant name and business name will be listed on this website.  Check this website for details regarding grant notifications

VMRC Licensed Charter Boat Captains and USCG Licensed/Documented Vessels Providing Passenger Service who were previously awarded a grant through the CARES Act from Accomack County, are not eligible for funding during this application cycle.

  • County taxes are current and paid as of September 22, 2020.
  • Was not approved for EIDL or PPP grants.
  • Did not receive EIDL or PPP grants.
  • Have not received unemployment benefits.
  • Must fully complete and submit an on-line application.
  • Business must be in good standing with the County.

Important Information Concerning your Application:

  • Applications will be reviewed by the County, and the County in its sole discretion will make grant awards after review.   
  • Grants will be made on a first come first serve basis.
  • Applications will be received through a 3rd party website, Survey Monkey.  Links will be uploaded to this website making the on-line applications active. 
  • It is recommended that applicants use a computer, laptop, tablet, or similar device.  Cell phones will process the application, however they will take longer than other types of devices.
  • Items you will need for your application:   
  • An active VRMC License Number.
  • An active USCG License Number.
  • Verify that you are current with County Taxes as of September 22, 2020.  (Call 757-787-5738)
  • You will need to indicate if your business received or was approved for any EIDL (Economic Injury Disaster Loan) or PPP (Paycheck Protection Program) funds.
  • You will need to certify that the information provided on the application is accurate and truthful.

VMRC Licensed Charter Boat Captains and USCG Licensed/Documented Vessels Providing Passenger Service may be eligible for grants up to $5,000 in round one, and up to $4,000 in round two.  Self-employed or Small Business VMRC Licensed Charter Boats or USCG Licensed/Documented Vessels Providing Passenger Service  that have a permanent physical location in Accomack County and that did not receive approval or funds from the Small Business Administration's Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) or Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) grants/loans are eligible to apply.  Applicants cannot have received unemployment benefits.
