Accomack County is a member of the Virginia Association of Counties (VACo) and the National Association of Counties (NACo) both of which exists to support county officials and to effectively represent, promote and protect the interest of counties to better serve their citizens.

VACo’s board of directors is comprised of Virginia local government officials. Their legislative steering committees monitor state and national legislative activities for changes affecting local governments and recommend an annual legislative program, which is adopted at the annual conference. VACo works cooperatively with its national counterpart, NACo to keep counties abreast of issues affecting them.

During fiscal year 2023, the County paid dues to NACo ($663) and VACo ($6,914), respectively.
